Brief Bio.

CommerceWare is the trading name of myself, Ger O'Brien. I've worked in the internet industry since 1998, initially as a freelance developer. In January 1999, I joined an internet start up called Local Ireland. This innovative company was a joint venture between Nua, then a leading internet consultancy, and Eircom, Ireland's national phone company. Local Ireland aspired to be "the number one website for all things Irish", a focal point for both the Irish in Ireland and the millions of people of Irish descent around the world. Unfortunately, it proved very difficult to sell advertising on the site and the company ran out of cash early in 2001. I often wonder if Local Ireland would succeed if it were launched in 2009 rather than 1999; given all the recent developments in social media, I think it would probably be a great success!

Since 2001, I've worked as a freelance web developer, specialising in open-source applications for retailers. 

I started using Drupal in October 2010 and am constantly amazed by the power and flexibilty of this open-source content management framework. Drupal is a complex CMS and it requires a few months of frequent use before you become proficient. If you need training and support, please contact me.
